Guns and Hoses Golf for Toys tournament aims to spread Christmas cheer

CHICO ? Two companies are hoping to start Christmas cheer earlier this year during the Guns and Hoses Golf for Toys tournament that raises money to buy presents and bicycles for children.

Businesses and people interested in participating are encouraged to sign up for the tournament, which will be held Sept. 2 at the Canyon Oaks Golf Course.

The Guns and Hoses tournament, which is hosted by businesses Rossini Construction and ServPro, is in its third year.

The money that is collected goes toward the Chico Firefighters Association toy drive and the Chico Police Officers Association bicycle drive, said Rob Rossini, owner of Rossino Construction. He hopes many people show up to have fun, but most importantly, help put presents in children's hands come Christmas.

Memberships to participate are going fast, said Steve Kleppe, ServPro manager.

Individuals participating in the tournament pay $95 and it's $325 for a foursome team.

An unwrapped toy is required at check-in or a payment of an additional $20.

This event is all about the children, Rossini said. People can sponsor or donate anywhere from $20 to $2,000 or donate riffle items even if they can't attend the tournament.

It's important to give back to the community, he said. It's a pretty good feeling to be out there.

Donations and checks can be mailed to ServPro at 775 Entler Ave., Chico, CA 95928. Checks should be made out to Guns and Hoses Golf for Toys.
