Twitter has had a major impact on this year's presidential election, and the Republican National Convention is no exception to the phenomenon. There were more tweets about the event on its first day, than during the entire 2008 convention.

Several prominent Republicans, including Mitt Romney's wife Ann and Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, took the stage in Tampa, Florida Tuesday night to deliver speeches. Nearly every word was live-tweeted and fact-checked by journalists, mocked by comedians and rebutted by Democrats.
Unfortunately for the Romney campaign, the top 10 most retweeted tweets sent Tuesday night about and during the convention weren't quite on-message. Check them out below, in order of most to least popular. The tweets are courtesy of 140elect.com, which tracks "all tweets about certain keywords related to the Republican National Convention using the Twitter API, then orders them by retweet count," according to founder Zach Green.
