A veteran of the music industry who was involved as a talent booker and spent time working as a music performer as well passed away unexpectedly recently while at his home in Tennessee. Johnny Schott was involved in music promotion for years with groups who lived and played out of the Cincinnati area as far back as the 1960s and he also spent time playing with The Radicals and The Black Watch where he was a singer and eventually ended up getting many offers for a major music contract.
But surprisingly, Schott decided that he didn?t want to be caught up in the whirl of being on tour constantly as part of a major band and had turned down all of those music opportunities over the years because he wasn?t interested in that sort of lifestyle. By the time the 1970s rolled around, the talented artist decided to get into a solo career which eventually got him interested in some booking that was done in the local area which then led to his involvement in various bookings and promotional events related to local music acts.
Although he also continued to perform at that time, he ended up becoming quite a mentor to certain performers who were new to the music industry and ended up becoming one of the most well known promoters of his time. He was involved in many different local music series and festivals over the years. Many of his contemporaries were extremely saddened to hear of his passing at such a young age.
